Epic Cadence Developer
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Epic Cadence Developer to design, build, and optimize advanced scheduling workflows within the Epic Systems ecosystem. This role will serve as a senior technical expert responsible for configuring complex Cadence functionality that supports ambulatory access, provider scheduling, referral workflows, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate combines deep Epic build expertise with a strong understanding of healthcare access operations, enabling them to translate complex business requirements into scalable system design that improves patient access, scheduling accuracy, and provider capacity management.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, and maintain advanced scheduling functionality within Epic Cadence, including provider templates, visit types, scheduling restrictions, and resource management.
Serve as a subject matter expert for Cadence configuration, advising operational leaders and technical teams on best practices for scheduling workflows and access management.
Architect scalable scheduling structures that support multi-specialty ambulatory environments and high-volume patient access operations.
Translate complex operational and clinical requirements into system design, configuration, and implementation strategies.
Lead the build and optimization of:
Provider scheduling templates
Visit types and modifiers
Scheduling rules and decision logic
Department and resource structures
Template management processes
Support and integrate scheduling workflows with related Epic modules such as:
Epic Prelude
Epic Ambulatory
Epic MyChart
Partner with patient access leadership, ambulatory operations, and clinical stakeholders to improve scheduling efficiency, access to care, and provider utilization.
Drive system optimization initiatives related to scheduling standardization, template governance, and centralized scheduling models.
Lead complex troubleshooting efforts related to scheduling logic, template configuration, and workflow dependencies.
Participate in system upgrades, new functionality implementation, and large-scale Cadence optimization initiatives.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to analysts and other Epic application team members.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of scheduling configurations, workflows, and system design standards.
Required Qualifications
Epic Cadence Certification
5+ years of Epic Cadence build and configuration experience
Demonstrated expertise in provider template design and complex scheduling workflows
Deep understanding of ambulatory access operations and patient scheduling models
Experience designing scalable scheduling frameworks across multiple specialties or departments
Strong ability to translate operational requirements into technical system configurations
Experience leading complex Epic configuration initiatives and cross-functional system improvements
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and system design skills
Excellent communication skills with both operational and technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Epic access-related modules including Epic Prelude, Epic Referrals, and Epic MyChart
Experience supporting centralized scheduling operations or enterprise patient access functions
Familiarity with Epic reporting tools such as Epic Reporting Workbench and Epic SlicerDicer
Experience participating in Epic upgrades, new feature implementations, and workflow redesign initiatives
Experience working within large health systems or multi-specialty ambulatory networks
